Marked for Death?

A plan now under consideration by federal officials would allow the killing of hundreds of wolves using helicopters, poison gas and other barbaric means.

Dear Arnold,

Wildlife Services is a program gone rogue.

Despite this summer’s ruling by a federal court to restore Endangered Species Act protections for Greater Yellowstone and Northern Rockies wolves, Wildlife Services agents -- the government’s wildlife killing experts -- are planning to kill hundreds of wolves in the region, including helpless pups in their dens.

Please take action now. Urge President Obama’s head of the Department of Agriculture (which oversees Wildlife Services) to nix the program’s plan to expand their wolf-killing role in Idaho.

Last month, more than 62,000 caring Defenders supporters like you spoke out against this awful plan. But now we're taking our message to the top -- USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack.

Speak out now. Take action.

Thanks to a recent court ruling in our court fight for wolves, these magnificent animals are once more protected under the Endangered Species Act... but you wouldn't know it from looking at the plan Wildlife Services has cooked up for wolves in central Idaho.

It's a proposal that would make Sarah Palin smile. The agency wants to expand their wolf-killing operations, working with Idaho officials to kill up to 80 percent of the wolves in some areas.

Their plan also includes killing entire packs. Their plan includes using helicopters to chase down and kill wolves. And their plan includes gassing helpless wolf pups and their mothers in their dens, surgically sterilizing alpha wolf pairs and more.

Speak out now to stop the out-of-control wolf killing plan -- before the government-sponsored killing starts.

The agency has other, more reasonable options. But rather than helping ranchers co-exist with wolves and other native wildlife with proven non-lethal techniques, Wildlife Services is expanding their role as the nation’s top wolf-killers -- and relying on the lethal approach that helped the program eliminate wild wolves in the Lower 48 United States during the 1940s.

Please take action now to help stop the federal Wildlife Services plan for killing more protected wolves in the Greater Yellowstone and Northern Rockies region.

For the Wild Ones,

Rodger Schlickeisen
President
Defenders of Wildlife

P.S. The official comment period on this outrageous plan is already closed, and the killing could begin soon. Please take action now and urge federal officials to stop the wolf-killing carnage before it starts.

Full ViewDefending Lake Wobegon
From: Garrison Keillor Add to Contacts
To: Arnold schwertman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friends,

Thirty years ago, when I started telling stories about Lake Wobegon, I put it smack in the middle of Minnesota - in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District, in fact - where staunch Republicans and loyal Democrats know how to live together without yelling at each other and do what needs to be done to work out our problems.

It's embarrassing to me and a great many Minnesotans that Michele Bachmann, a politician who is so busy grandstanding and giving interviews on Fox News that she doesn't have time to serve the people who elected her, represents the 6th District in Washington.
That's why I'm proudly supporting Tarryl Clark - and I hope you will join me by contributing before today's midnight deadline.

Minnesota's 6th District has some of the highest foreclosure and unemployment rates in the state, but in an interview with the St. Cloud Times, Congresswoman Bachmann was unable to name any "substantive" legislation she had passed.

Michele Bachmann may still be counting on sliding through to re-election on November 2nd, but this year she is running against a smart and hard-working State Senator, Tarryl Clark, who is determined to make the talking heads of Fox News sit up and take notice.

Tarryl founded Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity and served as youth minister of her church for nearly twenty years. She grew up in a Navy family and has worked on behalf of veterans, families and children in the legislature. Service to her community is a part of who she is, and that spirit of service is sorely needed in Washington these days.

I hope you'll join me in making a financial contribution to her campaign - $25, $50 or $100 - before midnight tonight!

Tarryl Clark will never embarrass our state in Congress. Let's restore some respect for the Minnesota tradition of working together sensibly by electing her this November.

Thank you,

Garrison Keillor

P.S. Instead of working to solve problems, Bachmann talks about us as a "nation of slaves" and about the need for smaller government even though she knows better - the biggest part of big government is military spending, Social Security, and Medicare. Which would she do away with? Bachmann's so-called policies are just the old Bush economics that Alan Greenspan characterized as "disastrous." Help Tarryl defeat her by donating today.

arnold,

Contribute before midnight >>

All day long, we've received an online contribution once every 26 seconds.

This pace alone tells a remarkable story about how excited Texans are to have new leadership.

Please chip in $5, or whatever you can afford, to help us raise 5,000 donations before midnight tonight -- an important fundraising deadline.

Together, we can win in November.

Thank you for your support. Bill is in it for Texas.

Bill White for Texas

Full View14 hours to go

arnold,

Contribute before midnight >>

Rick Perry's top political advisor recently announced that the "shock and awe" portion of his campaign has begun, with a barrage of negative attack ads independent fact checkers rated "false."

Negative, false attack ads don't "shock and awe" anyone. They're exactly what Texans expect from a professional politician financed by special interests, insiders and lobbyists who will do anything to hold on to power.

What does shock the political establishment watching this race is your incredible support for our campaign. Let's prove that we're up to the task of raising 5,000 donations to elect a governor who's actually in it for Texas.

Help us hit our ambitious 5,000-donation grassroots fundraising goal before tonight's midnight deadline. Please contribute $5 now.

Over the last few months, we've seen our momentum build as Texans get to know me better and realize there is an alternative to Perry. We're seeing it online, with over 131,000 Facebook fans. We're seeing it at events and rallies around the state. We're seeing it in the latest polls of the race.

I'll be keeping a close eye on our goal thermometer today, which shows the contributions between September 14th and the midnight deadline tonight. With your help, we can top our goal and gain even more momentum.

Reaching our goal won't just be a statement about our ability to raise money, though. It will be a statement to all of Perry's donors who only give to further their self-interests. It will be a statement that Texans are ready for a governor who fights for what's right for our state.

Please make a $5 contribution before tonight's midnight deadline and help us build our momentum.

We have just 14 hours to go until the deadline.

If you, like a majority of Texans, believe we need a new governor but haven't contributed yet, we need your support today.

Thank you for everything. I'm humbled by your support.

Respectfully,

Bill White

Arnold --

There's going to be a showdown on the Senate floor this week -- and we'll have a chance to do away with "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" once and for all.

Right now, though, it's not clear we'll have the votes to win.

That's because moments after Sen. Harry Reid announced the vote, Sen. John McCain again threatened to stop the bill at any cost. He said he plans to filibuster not just a vote, but even the procedure to bring it up for debate.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" isn't about politics -- it's about discrimination. And when Republicans defend discrimination of any kind, they need to know that their constituents are watching and ready to respond.

It is up to each of us to let the Republicans who are blocking this vote know that Americans want repeal.

Call Sen. McCain at (202) 224-2235 now, tell him America supports the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and ask him to stop standing in the way.

As the President has said, we must end this law "because it is the right thing to do." A majority of Americans agree that those who are brave enough to stand up and serve our country deserve to do so openly.

Call Sen. McCain today at (202) 224-2235 to tell him to end his filibuster threat and get out of the way of change.

Thanks for your help on this critical vote,

Mitch

good morning

Here an analagyfor you to think about. i played poker on My Space Zigma; and it is a lot like poltics. For one thing it rigged there programs come into the room and with a hand or with out they take your chips; the same is true in polotics but we vote them into office. We know the Replican party; is in the hipp pocket of the special interest groups; Like Wall Street and health care insurance and hospitals and the like; And they have been iching to privatize social security and have already said that they want to repeal the health care reform and Wall Street reform that have passed in the last year and a half. What do you think is going to happen when they get there hands on your social security money? There's a good chance it will be on Wall street and they will use the complex bonds and other Instruments to make more money for them selves and swindle you out of retiring.by puting your money in the hands of crooks like AIG traders and other crimals that work there; they drove the country into almost bankrupy we had to pay over a billion Dollars in bail out money to keep the system afloat;but the housing indstry fell flat job were lost at a rate seen only during the great depression of the early 30s.We are afraid that the Wall street Refor law and health care law will bankrup us; If we allow the people who were in office back in power again look at what they could do to us again. no medacare no social security no health care because small companies won't be able to afford it. and you'll need to make room for mom and dad unless you want them on the street eating out of trash cans. One thing Tarryl Clark said stickls in my cawl she asked Miss bachmann to cut her salary and expencents by 5% to lessen the burden on the people i would like to asked every one in Congress to lessen ther expences by 10% from the president down that would add money to the caughters and bring down the debt a little too.if they have liquid a salar or assettet of over million may they should get social security that would lessen the debt too.

Sat, September 11, 2010 11:15:59 AMHonoring our first responders
From: Tarryl Clark Add to Contacts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Arnold,
Nine years ago today, our country was devastated by a terrible attack on the World Trade Center. This sad anniversary is a time to remember the victims of that tragedy and a time to honor those who put themselves in harm's way to try to save them - police officers, fire fighters, and first responders.

Those who risk their lives to protect us, who run into the fire or towards the danger, and who have stepped up to keep us and our communities safe, deserve our gratitude and support. I worked side by side with first responders in the Minnesota Senate as a partner and ally. I am so proud to have the endorsement of police officers, fire fighters, and nurses in this campaign.

Today, I will attend a ceremony in St. Cloud to mark the occasion of the 9th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks, and later this week I will be visiting a police station in St. Cloud, a fire hall in Woodbury and a sheriff's office in Anoka. At each stop, I'll thank everyone there for their service, honor the sacrifices they make on our behalf, and listen to their ideas for how to keep our communities safe.

My Dad and two of my three brothers served in the Navy, and my brother-in-law is a police officer. I know what it's like to turn on the television and worry that someone you love is in danger. Men and women in uniform aren't just like family to me - they are family! I've worked hard on their behalf throughout my career, and am overwhelmed by their support in this campaign.

In Congress, I'll stand on the side of those who protect our country by serving overseas. I'll also remember that keeping our communities safe starts right here at home, and will fight to make sure that our first responders, police officers, and fire fighters have the tools, equipment, and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. Supporting first responders isn't a partisan issue - it's one of the values we all share. We should be working together to serve those who serve us.

So today - regardless of your political persuasion or personal beliefs - let's join together to remember those we have lost, honor those who serve, and thank those who put their lives on the line to protect us and our communities.

Sincerely,

Tarryl Clark

Bill White for Texas

Arnold,

Send a letter to the editor of your local paper >>

Rick Perry recently said he thinks it's "bizarre" for Texans to expect an honest update on the state's growing budget deficit before the November election.

Actually, "bizarre" is a governor who forces taxpayers to pay $10,000 a month for his rental mansion while the state faces a record $18 billion budget deficit.

If you agree, we need you to take action.

Please click here to write a letter to the editor of your local paper explaining why you think we need a governor who takes the state's budget seriously.

Democrats, Republicans, Independents and newspapers agree that there is an $18 billion budget deficit, but Rick Perry continues to claim that it's an estimate someone "reached up into the air and grabbed."

Bill will be a governor who shoots straight on the budget and he will provide monthly updates to the public on our cash flow, expenditures, and any changes in financial projections.

When Bill White was mayor of Houston, he managed a balanced budget with transparency, discipline and careful planning. Bill ran Houston efficiently, cutting tax rates five straight years and building cash surpluses.

That's the message we need your help to communicate to Texans everywhere when they open their paper next week.

Please take a moment to write a letter to the editor of your paper using our quick and easy online letter-writing tool.

As governor, Bill White will shoot straight on state finances, and he won't hide from tough questions.

Thanks for taking action in time to make next week's papers.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Moore
